There is nothing better than a good brunch on the weekends. Sometimes my family likes to sleep in, take the morning slow, and then go to town on a buffet, massive pancakes, or farm-fresh omelets. Sometimes, my girlfriends and I like to get cute and fancy to catch up over mimosas.

No matter what your brunch vibe is, you can find a place to hit the spot here in Owensboro. My friend Desla recently polled Facebook to find the best brunch experience in the area. So, I thought I would provide a public service by making a list. Whether you are a local wanting to try somewhere new or you're visiting and looking for a "locals-approved" spot, here are some great recommendations:

The Famous Bistro

I have friends who religiously brunch at the Bistro. You can get creative with different juices for your mimosas and enjoy the lovely outdoor seating. And the food! Your plate will look almost too good to eat. Almost. You will not be disappointed. Call for reservations on Saturdays 10AM to 2 PM.

Lure Seafood & Grille

Speaking of lovely outdoor seating, the riverfront view is a huge perk of brunch at Lure Seafood & Grill. The atmosphere inside is bright and beautiful. Fancy but chill. On the corner of the Waterfront Hampton Inn & Suites, you'll enjoy specials like the Hot Brown Brunch pictured here and some of the best cocktails you've ever had.

The Miller House

What's better than a classic southern biscuit? A sweet potato biscuit from The Miller House. Good home cookin' in a beautiful Victorian home with excellent service and a place to wear that new outfit you just got? This one checks all of the boxes.

Windy Hollow Restaurant

This is a great place to go if you are wanting an authentic "Country" breakfast. The buffet has been a favorite for generations, and is basically a museum of local history and pop culture. Feels like visiting your papaw who loved to collect treasures. A packrat's paradise with their iconic freshly fried, sugar-coated donuts. Breakfast every Sunday, 7am to 1:30pm. Bonus points for the scenic drive to get there.

Windy Hollow Biscuit House

Need I say more than this photo? Biscuit House is in our rotation of weekend breakfast spots. The cousin of the original restaurant, it is located in Wesleyan Park Plaza. The servers take care of you like you are family, and the gift shop is so fun! Plus, anything you have a hankering for is probably gonna be on that buffet! My favorites are their fried chicken and cheese grits! The smoothie and coffee bar is top notch too.

Ole South Barbeque

I know, you may be thinking...Barbeque? For breakfast? Whoaaaaa Nelly, if you are not already familiar with Ole South's breakfast buffet, just prepare yourself. You may write me a thank you card after you visit. It is just THAT good. These photos are little old, but just trust me. 11/10!

The Cottage

Everything Marlene and her team make is delicious. Their food is clearly made with love and often featuring local ingredients. Their lunch specials are out of this world and super affordable as are their breakfast options. Be sure to grab a special coffee drink and a carton of the assorted mini muffins to-go! They are so good you may give in and eat them on the way home for dessert!

Dee's Diner

I have a confession. The breakfast here is so good I have never even tried anything else. Other than their creative Burger Week burgers, of course. From the burritos, to the platters, to the pancakes bigger than your plate, it all hits just right. If you ask a local where they go for breakfast, I bet Dee's is in their top three, at least.

Kim's Diner

My girl!! Kim! When I want breakfast that tastes like a memaw made it, I go to Kim's Diner. In fact, I may start calling Mary Beth "Memaw" as a compliment. You think she'd be OK with that? The whole crew there is amazing. Your coffee cup will never be empty and you'll probably feel like you are in a special greasy spoon version of "Cheers!" There is a reason, this "hidden gem" is not so hidden anymore!

Deloris' Cafe

Listen. You are not going here for frills. You are going here to inhale the best and biggest omelet you've ever had. You are going for biscuits and gravy that will bring a tear to your eye. You are going for a giant platter of savory and sweet and extra bacon on the side. You are going for the servers with magical powers who can somehow read your mind and make sure you have everything you need and then some.

Let me know what you think about this list. If you know of a good brunch on Owensboro that should be added, please let me know on the App! For up to date information on hours or to see menus from each spot, be sure to visit their social media pages linked above. Happy Brunching!
