Grab Your Besties & Perform at the Owensboro Lip Sync Battle!
This is the best news I've heard all week! Amanda Owen, Executive Director of Puzzle Pieces in Owensboro, made an exciting announcement yesterday.
Although the organization's 9th annual fundraiser is still a ways away, planning began the day after the 8th was in the books back in January. That's because it is one of the biggest events in the area. The Owensboro Lip Sync Battle sells out to huge crowds every year as folks (myself included) can't get enough of the high-energy performances starring our friends and neighbors.
If you've never been, here is a taste of what it's like. Chad and I emcee the evening, kicking things off with an opening number.
As you can see, the stage is set with tons of lights and smoke cannons, and huge screens with graphics designed by Wonderboy Media. We pull out all the bells and whistles to celebrate the amazing work that Puzzle Pieces provides to cherished members of our community. They offer services and support for over 400 individuals with disabilities.
Six battles, twelve teams and one heck of a time for a great cause. Groups go head to head dancing, lip syncing, doing tricks with props and set pieces, and then the audience votes for the winner of each battle. There is also an overall winner and a winner for the team who raises the most money.
How to Sign Up For the Best Friend Battle
Now, YOU can be a part of it!! You may have seen the performances in previous years and thought "I could do that!" Well, this year, you totally can. Submissions are now open for the Best Friend Battle. Two teams of best friends will be chosen to put together a routine and raise money for Puzzle Pieces.
All you have to do is email Amanda at amanda.owen@puzzle-pieces.org and let her know you'd like to join in the fun. Every year, teams say they've had an absolute blast. What better way to spend quality time with your crew?
If you're anything like my friends growing up, you used to come up with dances at slumber parties all the time! That talent comes back just like riding a bike. So grab your besties and channel your inner Spice Girls or get your boys and do your best Bone Thugs & Harmony. We can't wait to see you perform at the 2026 Owensboro Lip Sync Battle!

We've Got Talent, Too!
