These Are the 10 Highest-Rated Tennessee Amusement Parks
Several years ago, I remember reading a 1999 interview with Courtney Cox about how she and her ex-husband David Arquette spent their honeymoon. Since they were--and presumably ARE--big roller coaster fans, they went to the Walt Disney World Resort, and, well...you know the rest.
Since then, a vacation of nothing but theme parks/amusement parks has always sounded like an intriguing idea. But that would require a LOT of time on the road. However, if you kept it to one state, you could still have the time of your life. The TripAdvisor list of the 10 highest-rated Tennessee amusement parks could be your guide. And here's the best part...all of the entries are in one region of the Volunteer State.
10. Moonshine Mountain Coaster
It's really only a coaster, but it's listed as an amusement park. Who cares if you're having fun, right?
9. Smoky Mountain River Rat Tubing
I saw the word "tubing" and I was hooked.
I could spend MULTIPLE days in a water park. For me, they simply do not get old.
Karts and games and games and karts. Yes, I could spend a whole day here, too.
6. Ober Gatlinburg Amusement Park & Ski Area
I don't ski, but from the looks of it, that wouldn't be an issue.
5. Anakeesta
This relatively new park in Gatlinburg is growing by leaps and bounds.
4. Smoky Mountain Alpine Coaster
I'll climb into an alpine coaster anytime one is available.
This is a MUST on any Gatlinburg trip. Plus, it takes you to the Skybridge and one of the best views in the Smokies.
It's a unique mix of shops (more than 80 of them), restaurants, rides, and attractions on 23 acres of fun.
1. Dollywood
Is it even remotely surprising that this tops the list?
It seems like if you visit East Tennessee and the Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge region, you could pretty much throw a dart and hit one of the ten most popular amusement parks in Tennessee. That's pretty unbeatable when you're planning a vacation. The thing is, how much time will you need if you want to hit them all in one trip?
One more thing...if Opryland USA was still functioning, it would be 1) at least in the top three, and 2) the only one on this list NOT in the Eastern Time Zone.
