We have had such a gorgeous stretch of weather the past two weeks. After the literal downpour that the Tri-state saw thanks to Hurricane Helene, it's like the heavens opened up and blessed us with sunshine, a lovely breeze, and fall-like temperatures.

I assumed this is what we would be able to expect through October. At least that's what I was hoping anyway. However, this week when I talked to Ron Rhodes from Eyewitness News he had a surprise up his sleeve to tell me about. Next week, we will experience the first frost of the 2024-25 Fall/Winter season.

As a dry front moves in on Sunday, temps will drop dramatically. From Sunday's high in the low 80s, Monday's high will be about twenty degrees cooler.  I thought this was interesting considering the Farmer's Almanac's first frost prediction isn't until the last couple of days of October. They use the NOAA National Centers for Environmental Information when determining their dates.

This first frost will be considered a "light" freeze meaning tender plants will be the ones potentially damaged. It is recommended to cover anything that isn't considered hearty vegetation. If you have any plants you want to bring inside for the Winter, you may consider going ahead and finding them a place to stay in your home.

I really hope this doesn't mean we aren't skipping Fall and heading right into Winter. Fall in Kentucky is too beautiful to miss, and trick or treating isn't as much fun when you're freezing your buns off walking door to door!
