12 Celebrities Who Came to Owensboro But Not to Sing
When I began this career, there was an aspect of it that never occurred to me until it began happening. Back in the day, it was much easier to secure all-access backstage passes for staff members. That meant we could hang out backstage throughout the ENTIRE concert if we wanted to.
Because of that privilege, I've met any number of country stars, and in very casual settings. A meet-and-greet handshake line moves quickly and is pretty rigid; when you're able to go anywhere you want, you can strike up conversations you wouldn't have time for otherwise. I have a lot of great memories.
Obviously, that kind of loose-fitting security is a thing of the distant past and it should be.
Celebrities in Owensboro
But at the old Executive Inn Rivermont in downtown Owensboro, when we would emcee the shows, those casual encounters returned. Bottom line...I've had the unique opportunity to meet a lot of famous people via this career.
But they all sing, and there's nothing wrong with that. These reminiscences led me to search my memory banks for celebrities that have graced our fair city who did NOT come here for a concert. Thanks to my brain cells and little research, I came up with a dozen celebrities--in a variety of fields--that HAVE come to Owensboro. True to the nature of this story, I only met a small handful of them.
So let's take a deep dive--not so deep, in some cases--into those celebrities who did not sing a note when they visited Owensboro. (That we know of.)
