City of Owensboro Announces Exciting New ‘Illuminate’ Event for 2025

I know we were all bummed to hear that the epic Owensboro Air Show will not be returning in 2025. The good news is that the planes WILL be flying back in 2026 with the incredible U.S. Thunderbirds as the stars of the weekend. I can't wait to watch them perform their jaw-dropping stunts.

To make the wait a little easier, the City of Owensboro has announced a REALLY cool new event that will light up downtown Owensboro this October, Illuminate. Now, I am super excited about this! I love all things creative and this weekend "promises to dazzle." Plus, it will be a great chance to make new memories with your family and experience something you've never seen before.

What is Illuminate?

Imagine all of Smother's Park twinkling and glowing with lighted art installations. "Oohing" and "Ahhing" at drone shows overhead. This will be a weekend of family-friendly fun and best of all? It's free! Here is a sneak peek preview:

According to the Illuminate Owensboro Facebook page, "Illuminate is designed to captivate the community with cutting-edge technology and immersive art installations, offering something for everyone to enjoy. More details about Illuminate will be announced in the coming months, including a full schedule of activities and highlights of the light-based artistry that will transform downtown."
