I’ve Always Sucked at the Board Game Clue, But I’ll Happily Watch the New Reality Series
I have never figured out a personal phenomenon that has plagued me since childhood. It's nothing serious, but it's certainly unusual. I have never won playing Clue. Never. And I don't think it's bad luck.
Clue
Seriously, I pay careful attention while sitting around the Clue game board, and I diligently mark off weapons, rooms, and suspects when the time comes. Then, we'll get to the end of the game, and I'll say, "It was Mr. Green with the wrench in the conservatory." And I'll say it with lots of confidence, too. But that hardly matters when the solution is revealed to be Miss Scarlett with the knife in the billiard room. I should've had YouTube back in the day.
(By the way, Clue was adapted from a British game called Cluedo.)
I always think I'm making the correct notations, and I never do. I enjoy the game. I always have. The rooms, the secret passageways, and the fact that this Hasbro icon (formerly Parker Brothers) has always been unlike any other board game make for a great combination.
Clue Reality Series
Maybe, with any luck, the new Clue reality series coming to Netflix will provide some insight into what I'm doing wrong. Either way, it sounds like it will be a lot of fun watching contestants collect clues and participate in challenges, both physical and mental, that will thrust them into real-life games of detection and deception.
(I really like this modern Clue look.)
If they guess correctly, money is added to a pot. If they guess wrong, they could be eliminated.
The green light is on. Now, let's see how this game "plays out." Let's see if it makes me a better Clue player. (I doubt it.)
