Much Cooler Kentucky, Indiana Temperatures Expected to Follow Gruesome Heat Wave
It is official. In 2025, summer moved to the bottom of my list of favorite seasons. Congratulations, winter, you're out of the cellar. As for you, summer, all you had to do was give us a handful of days (like you always do) that were cooler and less humid. But no, you had to go and throttle us here in Kentucky with 90-plus-degree heat and claustrophobic humidity.
Extreme Heat
While I am tempering my excitement only because this heat wave has been so oppressive (and lengthy), I'm still pleased and hopeful about what I've been seeing regarding our weather this coming weekend and during the days that follow.
We're not out of the woods yet, though. An extreme heat warning remains in effect for western Kentucky and southern Indiana through Wednesday. This seven-day outlook from WEHT-Evansville indicates a humid but cooler Thursday, and then a return to glory.

Cold Front Coming
That forecast is subject to change; it's a forecast. But a cold front is on its way, and it's a good one. I've consulted other sources because I'm too excited about this and want, more than anything, for this to happen. I can't remember the last time I was more eagerly anticipating a cold front. This graphic illustrates the wonderful news...
I don't know how long it will last, but I'm not splitting hairs about it either. I see at least four consecutive days of much cooler temperatures that will be coupled with lower humidity. Since this intense heat wave began camping out in Kentucky and Indiana, I've longed for even one day of comfort. I am currently pleased.
