Community Rallies Around Ohio County Family of Eight After Devastating House Fire
The Woomer family has experienced an unimaginable loss. A fire took their home and everything in it this week. While they're grateful that no one was hurt, especially their six children, they're now faced with the reality of starting completely over with nothing. Here's how you can help this Ohio County, Kentucky, family.
FIRE DESTROYS FAMILY HOME
If there's one thing to be said about the Ohio County area, it is that they come through to help their neighbors in need. That help is desperately needed for the Woomer family. On Monday, April 14th, 2025, a devastating house fire destroyed their home and everything inside. Thankfully, no one was hurt, but the family of eight, two parents and their six children, lost everything they owned. I can't even imagine what they're going through. They escaped with only the clothes on their backs.
Now, they face the challenge of starting over from nothing. As they search for a new place to live and work to rebuild their lives, they need immediate support for housing, clothing, food, and necessities. They're not asking for handouts. They’re asking for hope and whatever support you can give. Whether it's a donation, a share, or a prayer, every bit of love from this community matters more than ever.
"We are devastated and scared about what our future holds moving forward. A big thank you to the Beaver Dam Fire Department, Hartford Fire Department, EMS, Ohio County Sheriff's Department, Beaver Dam Police Department, and our friends and family who stopped by and reached out to us. We love you all!" Haley Woomer via Facebook
In addition to financial support, the family is actively searching for a 4–5 bedroom house to rent in Ohio County, Kentucky.
