My friend Brandon Cox is a wordsmith. He's dedicated his life to helping people stay informed about the world around them. Like a Communications superhero, during the day, he protects businesses from cyber attacks as the Client Success Manager at Fastek.

When the "glasses come off," if he isn't off climbing mountains and raising money for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, or spending time with his beautiful family, he is celebrating local leaders in Owensboro with his newest writing project, CRUSHIN' IT!

Nobody From Owensboro Ever Does Anything Cool

For a few weeks now, Brandon has showcased someone in the community who is, of course, Crushin' it! Why was he inspired to be a cheerleader for all of these amazing folks? "It all started Memorial Day weekend when I ran into a high school classmate in the produce aisle at Kroger. This person asked me about climbing Kilimanjaro and then said, “Nobody from Owensboro ever does anything cool.”

Prove Them Wrong

We are kindred spirits in that we love proving people like that wrong! So every day, Brandon has written a feature on "ordinary folks doing extraordinary things." His goal is to make it to 52. One for each week of the year. Small business owners, artists, musicians, activists, influencers, educators, and trailblazers all have at least one thing in common: the place we call home.

Brandon shared that he's been proving that classmate at Kroger wrong ever since that encounter and hopes to continue highlighting how crushing it looks different for everyone.
