Daviess County, Kentucky Mom of 3 Dies After Aggressive Colon Cancer Battle
The family of a young mom who died of cancer plans to carry on her legacy for her three children. Stacy Simpson, 23, of Utica, passed away on January 18th, 2024, leaving behind a community in mourning. Her smile, grace, humor, and joy will never be forgotten. As Stacy is laid to rest tomorrow, there are many ways you can help this grieving family.
In the short time Stacy Simpson was being treated for cancer, she never lost hope. She went to the hospital on December 4th for what they believed was a routine surgery for appendicitis. They discovered much more. Along with many other complications, they found cancer. It was aggressive and there was no cure, but there was hope. Stacy went into fight mode. Besides her fiance' Gus, she had three reasons to live—her small children, ages 1 year, 3 years, and 5 months old. Odessa, Opal, and Onyx needed their mom. Everyone who knew and loved Stacy needed her.
DEVASTATING CANCER DIAGNOSIS
Stacy Simpson from Utica, Kentucky, has been described as vibrant and outgoing, sassy, giving, strong, sweet, loving, funny, and spiritual. Those attributes were essential over the last several weeks. She was in the fight of her young life, but she wasn't alone. Luckily, she was surrounded by family, friends, and the community every step of the way. She desperately needed support after being given a stage four colon cancer diagnosis. After their entire world was turned upside down, hope always remained.
"The cancer is more aggressive and invasive than we thought. There is no cure. There is only treatment.", Hannah, her sister, shared
They just wanted more time, but it wasn't to be.
"Stacy gained her wings on 1/18/2024. Please consider helping out her family during this difficult time and keep Gus, Odessa, Opal, and Onyx in your prayers."
GOFUNDME SET UP FOR THE FAMILY
This is a humble family, and besides prayers, would never ask anyone for anything. But, that's not how it goes when you have a tribe of people wanting to help. When you find out someone you love is suffering it's devastating. You want to do anything to help ease their pain. This is a great way to support them through their grieving and healing process. When something devastating like this happens, it puts into perspective what's important in life.
"If you can donate, it's so greatly appreciated. If you can't, your prayers mean more than anything to us. We thank every person for their generosity. God bless." Hannah shared on the GoFundMe page
100% of the proceeds will go directly to the Kirk family.
MEAL TRAIN DAYS AVAILABLE
While Gus, Odessa, Opal, and Onyx work through their grief, here's another way to help. Although they're heartbroken, they need to eat and stay healthy during this difficult time. There are dates set up to provide meals for the family.
