No, The Daviess County, Kentucky Fair is Not Cancelled
This is a cautionary tale. A reminder to ALWAYS check the validity of a social media post before believing it, and especially before sharing it. I have to admit, I have totally re-posted something that I thought was real only to later find out I had been bamboozled.
It is even harder these days with AI in play. I'm always seeing faked pictures of celebrities and musicians supposedly opening hospitals or homeless shelters, yet when you Google to find more info? Nope! Not real!
This instance, however, was a case of mistaken identity. This unfortunate post was accidentally shared on the Owensboro Chat Facebook page.
The person who shared it thought the post was about the Daviess County, Kentucky, Fair. However, that is really the page for the Daviess County, Indiana Fair.

Here is the Facebook page for the Daviess County Lions Club, which is the group of amazing volunteers responsible for our local county fair. Be sure to give them a follow! They've cleared up the rumors floating around by announcing 2026 dates and event pages for Motocross, monster truck, and tractor pulls, baby!
So never you fear, The Daviess County Fairgrounds will be rockin' and rollin' this summer! Thank goodness! July 15th-18th, the rides, the vendors, the games, the animals, the beauty queens, the entertainment, and the corndogs will return. Mark your calendars and let's plan to make it the best one yet!
