DCPS Back to School Events

It's just July, but you can feel it in the air; it's almost time for kids to head back to school. I have no kids, so it's probably odd that I get jazzed about this time of year. But it's NOT odd when you learn that it's because it's a signal that fall is not far behind.

Still, you'll need to wear comfortable summer clothing for the upcoming back-to-school events hosted by Daviess County Public Schools because the first day is August 10th. That's no time for that cool new sweater you just bought on clearance.

But it IS time to prepare with your kids and there are orientation and open house events planned that will make that step much easier. Actually, one of the easiest things you can do is get your child registered for the coming school year online. But if it ISN'T that easy, just call the school your child will be attending and they'll walk you through it.

According to a DCPS press release, during these open house and orientation events, parents/families and students will have a variety of options

Relive 1980s Elementary School Gym Class

If you are a Generation X or Millenial like me, you likely have some strong memories of gym class. Either you loved it or hated it. I made some fun memories and built character and muscle, but I'm really glad I never have to go back and face some of these things again! And I know my teachers did their best to make gym enjoyable and teach us life skills. They succeeded - this is all in good fun. And, hopefully, future generations will get to thoroughly enjoy some of these as much as I did!
