Break open that piggy bank because it's time for the Daviess County Surplus Auction, and you don't want to be left out of bidding on some items that, after a quick look, might go very quickly.

Daviess County Fiscal Court Surplus Auction

If you didn't find anything of interest at the last Owensboro Surplus Auction, maybe you'll find a trip out to 2620 Highway 81 rewarding. There is no shortage of vehicles (of various types); heavy equipment like forklifts, snow plows, and trailers, and so much more; lawn equipment; and miscellaneous items such as a boat motor, an HP Chromebook, gutters, a flag pole, a popcorn machine, and mountain bikes. Again, to name but a few.

The auction will happen on Saturday, October 3rd, beginning at 9 AM at the Daviess County Operations Center, which is behind the county garage.

If you'd like to get a look at the items ahead of time, there will be a previewing period on Friday, October 2nd, from 7 AM until 3 PM.

Prepping for a Government Surplus Auction

If you've never participated in such an auction, the Investment Recovery Association offers some excellent pro tips about budgeting, bidding, and (maybe this is the most important thing) not getting carried away with your bidding during the auction.

If you have any questions about the Daviess County Fiscal Court Surplus Auction, you may contact Auctioneer Joe Paul Bickett at (270) 685-8482. Also, the auction is a card-and-tap-free auction, meaning you need to bring cash or a check.

Good luck, October 3rd could be a red-letter day for all you treasure hunters. And who knows? Maybe you'll find the perfect Christmas gift you likely wouldn't be able to find anywhere else.

(At those prices, anyway.)

The Weirdest Street Names in Owensboro, KY

If I asked you to name the first Owensboro road you could think of, you'd probably say "Frederica St." While it certainly makes this list, it isn't the most head-scratching street name on the list.
