It's almost time to "Play ball!" Here in Owensboro-Daviess County, we have two teams headed to World Series events in different parts of the U.S. The first team rolls out bright and early Wednesday morning (7/29) on their quest to bring home a world title.
The Daviess County Little League 12U team recently punched their ticket to the 2026 Little League Softball World Series. They're bound for North Carolina, which will play home to the tournament. Earlier this week, the talented ladies got a shout out from Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear, who said . . .
Congrats to Daviess County Little League on punching their ticket to the 2026 Little League Softball World Series! Thank you for representing Kentucky on the national stage. We're proud of you! Good luck in North Carolina.
There's also an incredibly talented team of boys headed to the World Series too. A Cal Ripken League team from right here in Daviess County has been steamrolling over their opponents all season long. That win streak has carried them through much of the post-season.
In addition to claiming the district title, Team West Kentucky won the state championship and the Ohio Valley Regional Championship. It's that win that secured them a spot in the Cal Ripken World Series in Branson. They head into that tournament- which features teams from all over the United States, as well as Australia, Germany, Puerto Rico, and more- with only two losses on the entire season.
Team West Kentucky will be traveling to Branson on Monday, August 3rd. Opening ceremonies will be August 4th and games begin Wednesday, August 5th.
The team consists of: #11 Landon Drury, #10 Carson Hawes, #17 Jude Murphy, #51 Gannon Cain, #8 Jakob Lee, #22 Kaycen Holeman, #2 Kegan Bray, #15 Reid McCrystal, #24 Langston Feldpausch, #13 Reece Wells, #99 Sebastian Posadas, #44 Wyatt Conklin, and #19 Zach Falloway.
They're coached by Derek Bray, Kyle Drury, and Stephen McCrystal.

Good luck to both teams! While you're on the road and on the field, we'll be rooting for you here at home.
Now, go do what you do best. PLAY BALL!
