I never know what it's going to be from one summer to the next. Will we be overrun by wolf spiders? Will mosquitoes flock to my arms like they used to do in those disturbing insect repellant commercials from the 70s?

Or will CHIGGERS fall in love with me? Yes, I'm afraid it's option three for 2024, and lucky me, right? I haven't had this many chigger bites in one summer, by this point, for as long as I can remember. And do they ever ITCH. So, what to do, what to do.

Well, the first result from my YouTube search yielded some helpful tips from WebMD, and they're pretty much what you'd expect.

It's pretty basic stuff that makes sense. I'm not sure an antihistamine will do the trick for me, but give it a go if you're confident. ONE thing I've learned is that an old home remedy from my youth is more or less and old wives' tale:

But, boy did I have a lot of nail polish applied to my skin when I was a kid. Back then, we all thought chiggers burrowed under the skin. We know now--and have known for some time--that that isn't true.

But this is all "after the fact" stuff. What can we do to head them off at the pass? For that, I located some information from thespruce.com which offered ways to keep them out of your life and to ward off an infestation. (Can you imagine?) Anyway, they've provided this helpful chart, which looks as if it would work for a number of unwanted insects:

Have a great summer; just don't spend so much time scratched. Let's hope this helped.
