Dear Zach Top, Here’s Why You NEED to Come to Owensboro, KY
Dear Zach Top,
OH my goodness, Hey Sugar Britches! How in the world are you? How's the Cold Beer and Country Music Tour going? You are just boot-scootin' all across the U.S. and even hoppin' Down Under for some shows in Australia this year? That is SO cool.
I saw where you will be playing a show in Pikeville, Kentucky later this Spring. May in the Bluegrass State is beautiful, you're gonna love it. You've been here before though, right? The birthplace of some of your favorites like the legendary Keith Whitley. I LOVE your cover of Kentucky Bluebird.
Shew wee! Brings tears to my eyes. Every time I hear your voice it takes me back in time to the good ole Golden Country days. Only one other style of music brings a Kentucky gal the feeling of nostalgia like that. I bet you could guess what that is. You've been playing it since you were a tiny little cutie pie. I SWEAR I am not a creep, but I did scroll all the way back to find your first Facebook profile picture. OK, Mandolin! Get it!
Did you know that Owensboro, Kentucky is the Bluegrass Capital of the World? The birthplace of the International Bluegrass Music Awards back in 1985 and just a stone's throw from Bill Monroe's homeplace in Rosine. Mister Bill said, “Bluegrass music has brought more people together and made more friends than any music in the world.”

We're keeping that vibe alive here in Owensboro, especially at the Bluegrass Hall of Fame and Museum. Every Summer, folks from all over the globe come to the annual ROMP Music Festival. Last year, a Korean bluegrass band called Country Gongbang played! How cool is that? Have you ever heard them before? You can read more about them here:
Your friend Dierks Bentley played ROMP last year too. I saw you'll be hitting the road with him this year. You can ask him how much he loves Owensboro. He is such a fan, he decided to make his signature bourbon with the fine folks at Green River Distilling Co.!
The 10th oldest distillery in Kentucky is right here down the road from the Bluegrass Museum, and it is the real deal. I'll take you on a tour when you come to visit, and we'll getcha some brown water. "The Whiskey Without Regrets" is even better than beer for breakfast.
I think summer would definitely be the perfect time for you to come to Owensboro. I know you'll be in California June 26th-28th of this year, but look what you'll be missing!
It's OK, I guess. I know you have fans looking forward to seeing you perform and they'd be sad if you canceled to come to Yellow Creek Park.
You'll just have to mark your calendar for next year! While you're here, you might as well hop up and jam. It's hard to resist with all the amazing live music going on. And then...what happens at the after-party campsite, stays at the after-party campsite. Bring your tent or your bus cause you're sure to sleep like a baby.
Your buddy, Billy can also vouch for Owensboro. He played the heck out of ROMP back in the day too.
I never lie (for real though!),
M-Kat 😊
P.S. I forgot to mention the BBQ! Have you ever had mutton? Burgoo? Just let me know when you're on your way...
