Periodically, I will do a Google search looking for any information about national chains of any kind, finally making their way to Kentucky. I don't expect anything from those that are and will always be regional, or somewhat regional. In-N-Out Burger leaps to mind.

For years, television series would include the names of restaurants I was never able to visit because they were tethered to California or the West Coast. I'm not sure how many writers dropped the names of Whataburger, Starbucks, or the aforementioned In-N-Out Burger before they began migrating eastward. (Well, as we now know, the latter hasn't and won't.) And because I couldn't get to them, I wanted to get to them.

Del Taco Expanding Into Kentucky

More recently, I've heard many mentions in casual conversation (on late-night talk shows) or dialogue of Del Taco. This popular Mexican fast food chain isn't exclusively a California fixture, but you might think it is, considering there are more than 300 Del Taco locations in the Golden State.

But no. Del Taco is a coast-to-coast operation, finding homes not only in Cali, Oregon, and Washington, but also in Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, and Virginia. There are also franchises in Ohio, Mississippi, and Michigan. And now, it's Kentucky's turn.

The second-largest Mexican fast food chain in the country, Del Taco, which opened its first restaurant in 1964, is planning on having five locations open in the Louisville area within the next two years, according to Business Wire. Here's the menu...

Okay, I'm sold. I have a feeling that, within the next two years, I'll be creating five GPS bookmarks in my iPhone. Get ready, Del Taco, here I come.
