Dolly Parton fans here in the Tristate, like folks around the world, are still reeling from the news of the singer's death. The country music legend, pop culture icon, and beloved humanitarian died earlier this week at the age of 80.

Melissa Smith, who owns three Lady Luck Tattoo & Body Piercing locations here in western Kentucky, was among Dolly's huge legion of fans. She says, "Dolly was the standard that we should all strive for."

It's that legacy that has prompted Melissa to give Dolly's devoted local fan base a way to immortalize her. Melissa and another Lady Luck artist (Lilly) have imagined and created some Dolly Parton-inspired flash tattoos.

Beginning, Monday, August 31st, these designs will be available - by appointment only - for just $80 a piece. But, in true Dolly form, Melissa is donating half of the proceeds generated to the Imagination Library of Daviess County.

So, $40 from each tattoo given will be allocated to funding for our local literacy initiative.

Melissa says, "Dolly means a lot to me because she's one of the first people I remember speaking up for gay rights." Honestly, during her lifetime, Dolly seemed like a champion for virtually everyone.

This is yet another reason why Melissa and the staff at Lady Luck have decided to honor Dolly in ink.
