Drivers in Canada Will Lose License if They Pass a School Bus
The amount of fatalities of school children in the past six months alone in the Tri-State due to errant drivers not aware of bus safety laws could really use a law like one that is being enacted in Canada.
The province of Prince Edward Island is punishing drivers who pass school buses illegally with first demerits, then a three-month license suspension with a $5,000 fine if the driver acquires 12 demerit points.
The requirements for the drivers to get their licenses back include meeting with the highway safety department, paying a $100 reinstatement fee, and taking a defensive driving course within six months of getting their licenses back.
Even when a driver's license is reinstated, he or she is placed on probation.
The new law in P.E.I. will be enacted on December 8th.
