For the second consecutive year, Owensboro Parks and Recreation is teaming up with Independence Bank for a talent contest called Dugan's Got Talent! The finals of the contest will be held at the Dugan Best Recreation Center on Friday, April 12th, 2024. Auditions will get underway in February and, this year, there's a new audition method being offered to aspiring contestants.

Dugan's Got Talent '24 is open to all high school students ages 14 to 18 in Owensboro-Daviess County. Contestants can be enrolled at Owensboro High School, Apollo High, Owensboro Catholic High or Daviess County High School.

Like in 2023, interested contestants will be able to audition via video. Those online auditions will officially open for submissions on Monday, February 5th. To enter, each contestant must submit a 30-second maximum video of their best talent- which can be singing, dancing, comedy, art or other. Last year's champion, Jo Jarboe, won for her incredible aerial silks routine.

**No more than five people can be in a single act and each individual can only submit and participate in one act.

This year, there is another way to be considered. Owensboro Parks & Recreation will hold live auditions on two separate dates- Thursday, February 1st (5pm to 6:30pm) and Saturday, February 3rd (10am to Noon). At those live auditions (also at Dugan Best), contestants will have their 30-second performance filmed by Owensboro Parks & Recreation staff and those videos will be uploaded for public consideration alongside the contestant-submitted videos.

Public voting, which will be held from March 13th through March 20th via the Owensboro Parks & Recreation website, will determine which of the 24 semifinalists will compete for the grand prize and additional college scholarships at the finale event on Friday, April 12th. The Top Ten finalists will be announced on Friday, March 22nd. Tickets for the finale event will go on sale the following Monday- March 25th.

For the second year in a row, I will be hosting the finals, which will be presided over by a distinguished panel of judges. Those judges will decide which acts will take place first, second, third and fourth place and will take home college scholarship money provided generously by Independence Bank.

The grand prize winner will receive a $4000 college scholarship. 2nd Place receives a $500 scholarship. 3rd Place and 4th Place each receive a $250 college scholarship.
