We've all heard the question, "What on Earth did we do before mobile phones?" And I always have the answer because I remember quite well what it was like prior to the existence of our beloved hand-held devices.

We either looked stuff up in an encyclopedia or we just gave up wondering and moved on. So, here we are in 2024, and I do not watch anything without my iPhone by my side. Sure it's there for a number of reasons, but for me, the main reason circles back to my earlier encyclopedia comment. I'll see someone in a series or movie whom I don't recognize, and so I look up their filmography.

Becky Ann Baker -- KY Native & Two-Time Emmy Nominee

While watching a recent episode of the CBS comedy/mystery Elsbeth, an actress I've seen a number of times had a key supporting role. I'd seen her before in Ted Lasso, The Good Fight, and--way back in the day--Law & Order. And that's to name a very few. She is Becky Ann Baker, and she's one of those actors who you've seen a million times but don't know her name. There are a lot more like her, and they're making great money because they are VERY busy.

A native of Fort Knox KY and a graduate of Western Kentucky University, Baker is married to actor Dylan Baker (that's him in the image), someone else I know you've seen more times than you can count but probably couldn't come up with his name if you were pressed to do so. She's done television (clearly), films, and theater. She has received two Emmy nominations in her career--for Ted Lasso and for the HBO comedy Girls.

More recently, she appeared in the feature films Jackpot and All Happy Families, movies that were released in August and September of this year, respectively.

She's a terrific actress who rarely lets grass grow under her feet. I doubt it will be very long before she appears on the small or large screen (or both) once again.

LOOK: The most famous actress born the same year as you

Many of the actresses in this story not only made a name for themselves through their collection of iconic performances, but also through the selfless, philanthropic nature with which many of them approached their stardom. In an age of flipping the script on societal norms, many of these actresses are using their voices and platforms to be advocates for those who are otherwise unheard.
