Country music star Eric Church has released a brand new Whiskey JYPSI bourbon and fans are delighted to hear that it's the most affordably-priced release yet. In fact, that news has country music fans, bourbon fans, and Kentucky bourbon expert Jacob Kiper saying, "Cheers!"

About a year ago, Church released his Whiskey JYPSI Explorer Series. It was met with overwhelmingly positive reviews.

Now, Church is rolling out (our pouring out) his Whiskey JYPSI Tribute Double Barreled Bourbon, which is intended to be an every day "Everyman" bourbon. Anytime I have a question about bourbon or want a review of a brand new one hitting the market, I reach out to Jacob, who runs the popular Coming Whiskey website, which promises readers "exclusive access to rare and unique American whiskies." Jacob received his sample bottle of Whiskey JYPSI Tribute Double Barreled Bourbon this week.

Eric Church's new whiskey is bottled at 86 proof. Jacob says "It comes with minimal burn and, consequently, will appeal to a larger audience." He adds, "This isn't a high proof whiskey that will scare people off." The price point won't either. It costs roughly $45 per bottle.

Whiskey Jypsi Double Barreled Bourbon is aged for at least four years, which Jacob says is the base standard. Then, after four years in the initial barrels, the high proof is reduced to 86 proof and then the bourbon is put back into new charred-barrels for an additional three to six months. That process, by the way, is called "finishing" or "double oaking." Therefore, Eric's Whiskey Jypsi Tribute is a finished bourbon or double oaked bourbon." Jacob says that practice is extremely common.

What's not particularly common is the use of Cherokee white corn, which, according to Whiskeyjypsi.com, "is championed by our whiskey master, Ari Sussman."

It's entirely possible the name Ari Sussman sounds familiar. Jacob says, "He's a big deal." Sussman helped create the Three Chord Backstage Series, a bourbon collection featuring collaborations with popular musicians. Thus far, that series has yielded bourbons by Halestorm, Theory of a Deadman, Black Stone Cherry, The Cadillac Three and more.

After sampling the new product, Jacob Kiper noted that, to his nose, it "smells like the frosting that goes on a German chocolate cake." He also noted all sorts of flavors, including toasted coconut, cornbread drizzled with honey, cinnamon and nutmeg.
