Kentucky 4th Grader Gets ‘Fancy Like’ with Country Music Star Walker Hayes
On Friday morning, I spoke at Career Day at Estes Elementary School. During one of my sessions with a 4th Grade class, I asked the students the question, "Who likes country music?" A few students raised their hands, so I then proceeded to ask members of the class who their favorite country singers are. A young last raised her hand and answered, "Walker Hayes." I instinctively mentioned that he had been in concert just the night before at the Ford Center in Evansville. The young lady then replied, "I was there. I danced on stage with him." I said, "Whoa! Wait. What?"
Well, here's the "Whoa! Wait. What?"
Meet Piper Bradley!
Piper loves Walker Hayes and, before she headed off to see his Duck Buck Tour at the Ford Center, she made that sign for him. And, according to her mom Karen, "she held up her sign the majority of the night."
It finally got Walker's attention.
He walked over to where Piper was standing, reached down and pulled her up on stage with him! Karen says when he pulled her up, Piper lost a shoe, but that didn't matter. She got to dance with her favorite singer and she laid it out!
Here's Piper's account of her big night!
And there's another really cool part of this story.
A women Karen works with actually gifted her the tickets. That coworker, Amanda Hebert, is currently battling cancer and didn't think she was going to feel well enough to attend the show. So, knowing Karen's daughter Piper is a huge fan of Walker, she gave her tickets to Karen. Karen says, "I was totally shocked! I couldn't wait to tell Piper she was going to see her favorite singer."
See him? Heck, she got to perform with him!
Karen says, "Piper couldn't believe it happened. She was crying!"
After her performance, Walker tweeted about Piper's appearance on stage. He said, "She nailed it!"
Nailed it, indeed. For an awesome night at the Ford Center in Evansville, Piper was living all "Fancy Like."
