I know, I know. When you say you love the food at Hooters, you should follow it up with, "Yes, I go there for the food." (Most people do.)

Hooters Is Closed

Well, if we're talking about the Evansville Hooters, it should read, "Most people did." In fact, if we're talking about the great majority of Hooters locations, it should read, "Most people did." The doors are slamming quickly all across the country.

Honestly, it's fairly mind-boggling when you search "Hooters" and click "News." You get a huge list of stories about Hooters closing everywhere. After more than 40 years, the Newport KY location announced its closure today. As I continue reading, it appears that this will be a day Hooters fans will never forget.

Hooters Bankruptcy

Despite what one group said as recently as February ("We are financially strong"), it doesn't seem like the Hooters corporation was nearly strong enough. All these closure stories are dated today, June 4th, 2025. The hammer is coming down from coast to coast following the bankruptcy.

And Evansville's Hooters didn't escape the impact. After three decades, the Lincoln Avenue location has also shuttered for good.

'What's Next' Suggestions'

However, I'm not sure how many tears were shed after the announcement, based on comments from a Facebook post after the news broke.

Jeff Proctor - "Waffle House"

That's an "on to the next" comment if ever there was one. And here's another.

Joshua Roberts - "That would be an amazing location for a Portillo's."

Nathan Todd - "Build a Jack in the Box."

There are plenty more where they came from. Anyway, I'm not here to dance on the Hooter's headstone. But it does feel like several folks are ready to "ring out the old and ring in the new."
