Owensboro Community & Technical College’s Experience Nursing Day Allows Prospective RNs to See What It’s Like

I have about as much respect as is humanly possible for nurses. And it's not just because my mother was a nurse and multiple dear friends are, too. They are on the front lines and, really, always have been--it's not a recent phenomenon just because of COVID.

EXPERIENCE NURSING DAY

And for as long as I can remember, nurses have been in high demand. If you have the dedication and the desire to help others, it's a magnificent career. And if you ARE interested in pursuing nursing as a career, you won't want to miss out on Owensboro Community and Technical College's Experience Nursing Day. It's exactly what it says it is--an opportunity for those interested in becoming registered nurses to roll up their sleeves and participate in activities that will involve baseline patient assessment, basic nursing skills, and the development of a simple care plan. What an opportunity for high schoolers to get started on something so fulfilling so early.

OCTC NURSING PROGRAM

It's a perfect way for OCTC to find out who is really ready to dive into this field and a perfect way for participants to know for sure this is what they want to do--especially with nurse educators who will be available to advise about nursing career options and to cover best practices to prepare for applying to competitive nursing programs.

Students who complete the program will be able to sit for the NCLEX-RN exam and receive their licenses.

WHEN IS EXPERIENCE NURSING DAY?

The events are scheduled on two different days--Friday, March 18th and Friday, April 22, both from 1 PM to 4 PM and will take place on OCTC's main campus at 4800 New Hartford Road.

Space is limited to the first 20 applicants, but there may be sessions added later depending on the level of interest.
