My generation grew up thinking that future would include flying cars. I'm not exactly sure why we thought that was the next natural progression and that it was bound to happen. But that's what we thought.

Flying Cars

It is entirely possible that an obscure old movie from 1930 called Just Imagine paved the way toward convincing us that the concept of flying cars was all but inevitable. When I was a kid, Saturday and Sunday afternoons (the latter, in particular) were populated with old movies on cable channels. This was one of them. Now, remember, this was a 1930 concept of what 1980(!) would be like.

IF we ever get flying cars, something that could prove to be a headache for the Department of Transportation despite their desirability, we could very well have an Indiana man and his partner to thank for it.

Pete Bitar of Anderson IN and Carlos Salaff are the co-founders of LEO Flight Corporation, a company that designs and manufactures "electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) flying cars for advanced air mobility."

Personal Flying Cars

Bitar and Salaff were on hand at CES 2025 in Las Vegas (CES stands for Consumer Electronics Show) to showcase LEO Solo, a personal flying vehicle, in a virtual demonstration. This impressive presentation looks like something out of Mad Men if the series had been set in 2025.

I don't know about you, but I'm ready. Of course, I don't have $100 grand just lying around, so LEO Solo will have to be backburnered. But I can still be happy it exists.

And I am.
