Free Paper Shredding Event Returns to Daviess County, KY
Last weekend, I was feeling really productive and decided to tackle the dreaded pile of papers that accumulates in our household.
I have a bad habit of just stacking up mail (that's probably just junk), random school and work papers, and paid bills that for some reason i feel I need to hold onto. The tower just grows and grows until it either gets on my nerves or I have a moment to go through it and sort what is garbage and what isn't.
Most of the time, 99% of the documents can just be tossed, but a lot of them have personal information that I would rather not share. Now, I sincerely doubt anyone is going to go through my trash toter outside, but it's still best practice to shred things like bank statements, credit card statements, old tax returns, receipts, pay stubs, expired debit or credit cards, utility bills, medical bills, and invoices.
If you have any of that laying around and need to get rid of it, the Daviess County Solid Waste Department is hosting a free shredding event for the community. September 20th from 10AM to 1PM in the Sportscenter parking lot. Piranha Mobile Shredding will be onsite to destroy up to 100 pounds of paper documents per person. Businesses and non-profits are also encouraged to participate.
This is such a valuable service our county officials provide to residents and it is always very well attended. Those big bins fill up rather quickly, so I highly recommend getting in line as soon as you can. Happy shredding!
