Hop on Over to Marcy’s in Leopold: Where Frog Legs Steal the Show
For the next stop in our Road Bites series, we’re heading about 45 miles down US-60 East to Marcy’s Restaurant & Catering in Leopold, Indiana. This one came straight from you all, and it might be the most unexpected stop yet. Who's ready for a road trip? Let's go!
THE ASK
I recently asked on social media for help finding truly unique menu items around the tristate. The kind of thing that’s not just good, but something you can’t get everywhere. Something worth jumping in the car for.
So far, we’ve checked out the Strawberry Butter at Patti’s, the Beef Manhattan at the Buggy Shed in Beechmont, and those massive Freak Shakes at Stellian’s. Safe to say, you all understood the assignment. My friend Pamela Baird chimed in with a suggestion that immediately caught my attention!
UNDER NEW OWNERSHIP
Before we even get to the delicious food, this was an unexpected find while researching this story.
While I was looking into Marcy’s Restaurant, I realized they actually just came under new ownership this month. Andy and Mallory Connor are the new owners, and they’ve got deep roots in Perry County.
From what they shared, it’s all about keeping things the same where it matters. Serving the food people already love and making sure it still feels like the place people have been going to for years.
And once the announcement went out, people quickly showed up in the comments with lots of support and excitement. You could tell right away this is a place people care about!
WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING
And if you need a little more convincing, the reviews say it all.
People keep talking about how much food you get, how friendly the staff is, and just how consistently good everything is. I kept seeing the same things over and over. It's about the ribs, fried chicken, big portions, and that small-town spot where everybody feels welcome.
One person even said you won’t find a better place to eat, and that’s a bold statement.
Another said everything on the menu is good, which is exactly what you want to hear when you’re making a 45-mile drive for dinner.
THE FROG LEGS YOU NEED TO TRY
And here’s the real reason we’re making the drive. The frog legs! People can’t stop talking about them. Reviews call them “excellent,” “awesome,” and lightly breaded just right. One even mentioned they’re a little small and messy, but that’s part of the charm. This is classic small-town cooking at its best. The kind of dish that makes Marcy’s a local favorite and the perfect stop for Road Bites! Familiar comfort food with a twist that’s totally worth hopping in the car for.
