Watch as Kentucky Town Thrills to Stunt Driver Launching General Lee Replica Over Enormous Fountain
On May 16th, an EF-4 tornado, part of a deadly twister outbreak, tore through southern and eastern Kentucky, devastating the cities of Somerset and London and leaving 20 people dead. This satellite view illustrates its path through the Daniel Boone National Forest.
Towns devastated by these horrific events need all the positive energy they can get, and, in Somerset this weekend, that positive energy came in spades from an unlikely source.
General Lee Jump
Well, let me back up. Saturday night, 35,000 guests enjoyed the annual Somernites Cruise classic car event. Pulaski County residents who needed to let their hair down and have fun did just that. As far as the "unlikely source" reference, while they fully expected to see a whole lot of beautiful vehicles, some may not have realized what was in store for them in the middle of town. Others, however, have grown accustomed to welcoming stunt driver Raymond Kohn and his spot-on replica of the Dukes of Hazzard General Lee Dodge Charger.
Stunt Driver Raymond Kohn
2025 marked Kohn's 30th appearance at the annual festival, and he did not disappoint. By all accounts (from just what I'm seeing on social media), he never disappoints. I really wish I'd been there to see this...

Here's the jump from a few more perspectives...
I can honestly tell you I get a rush every time I watch it, and it's a video. I can't imagine what it was like to be there. If Kohn returns for year 31, I might have to adjust my schedule.
