I confess I've never been a faithful American Idol viewer. I'm sure I've missed WAY more episodes than I've seen. But when I hear about a truly special vocalist, I'll look in.

Well, 18-year-old Georgia native Josiah Siska IS that special vocalist...for now.

And, maybe, for the season. I've never heard anyone on Idol who has the type of talent this kid has. Granted it could make singing a wide variety of styles a bit unusual if not downright sketchy.

But his VOICE.

They've just gotta take him.

Before you check out his performance of Johnny Cash's "Ghost Riders in the Sky,"  I have an observation:

It doesn't look as if Jennifer Lopez quite knows how to appreciate this kind of voice.

Okay, now take a look:

 

 

And, honestly, I could've done without Harry Connick Jr.'s horseplay, too.
