Glenn Funeral Home to Host “Give & Go” to Benefit Empowerment Academy
Every day I am humbled by the generosity of our community. You'd have to be living under a rock not to see it right now, and boy, does it make me proud. You may be feeling inspired to volunteer or donate to local non-profits. Not only will you be helping others, but you'll feel good about doing it, too.
It's easier than ever now too. Especially if you make plans to drive through Glenn Funeral Home's Give & Go event coming up next Wednesday to benefit the Empowerment Academy.
This month marks one whole year for this event! Each month, the folks at Glenn's have chosen a non-profit organization to collect donations for. I've had the pleasure of attending almost every Glenn's Give & Go event. We've found homes for precious shelter animals, collected canned goods for local food banks, school supplies for local kiddos, and so much more.
Glenn Funeral Home
The Glenn crew takes turns outside under the canopy (minus the few frigid days waiting inside), watching to unload cars that drive through with donations at 900 Old Hartford Rd. All folks have to do is just drive under the awning to the right of the building (there are signs to follow) and drop off items. They don't even have to get out of their cars.
The Empowerment Academy of Owensboro
This month's non-profit is the Empowerment Academy. According to their website, "The Empowerment Academy is empowering students to reach their educational potential by providing safe, long-term housing (24/7/365) with access to basic necessities and life skills training." Items needed include:
- Paper Towels
- Twin Bed Mattress Pads
- Blankets (Twin)
- Garbage Bags (bathroom and kitchen, small and 13-gallon)
- Toilet Paper
- Toothbrushes/Toothpaste
- Shampoo
- Deodorant
- Hygiene products (all types)
- Socks
- Backpacks
- Clothing-Teen Boys and Girls
- Coats/Jackets/Gloves/Scarves
- Underwear
- Sunscreen
When is Glenn's Give & Go?
Drive-thru donations will be accepted at the funeral home from 10 AM - 2 PM on November 5th. I'll be there broadcasting live and helping unload cars. If you can't make it next week, but still want to give, donations can be dropped off inside the funeral home until November 12th.
