Half of the ‘Grand Canyon of the South’ Is in Kentucky
Thirty summers ago, I walked up to the edge of the Grand Canyon for the first time. I was traveling with friends, and we spent most of the rest of the day just hanging out. It's a breathtaking, awe-inspiring experience. Don't miss an opportunity to see it in person.
The Grand Canyon of the South
Until that can be arranged, though, you can treat yourself to our country's other "grand canyons." Yes, there are others. But the one to which I am referring is in far eastern Kentucky. The "Grand Canyon of the South" is so vast that you can't fit all of it into the Commonwealth; half of this extraordinary geographical attraction lies in Virginia. And it has an official name...Breaks Interstate Park. Watch this amazing drone view of the park, then stay tuned for important information about that view.
Breaks Interstate Park
Vistas like this one will tempt any drone owner or operator to whip out the device and make magic. But at Breaks Interstate Park, you'll need permission to use one because of the presence of lodging and camping areas, locations your drone would need to steer clear of.
Kentucky Ziplining
Hiking is another popular activity at Breaks, for obvious reasons, but you'd kick yourself back home if you failed to take advantage of the ziplining.
Autumn is right around the corner, and if you're like me, you're already jotting down perfect fall getaway ideas. Make sure you leave room on that list for Breaks Interstate Park, the "Grand Canyon of the South."
