12 Reasons Henderson Kentucky Is a Great Weekend Destination

I've always admired Henderson KY because of its amazing downtown area. When I beat the drum about filmmakers shooting in small towns of the Commonwealth, I always have Henderson in mind.

And why not? Downtown Henderson is packed with a number of locally-owned restaurants and shops that have been in operation for decades. Well, there are two local shoe stores on the same strip that have been in business for who knows how long. I love that about towns like Henderson.

When saw a Facebook post from the Henderson Tourist Commission, it all came together.

By that I mean, when you see all these activities and attractions name-checked in one place, you realize, "Wow, I never put all this together in my head about Henderson, but you could really spend a lot of boredom-free time here." And you could.

I'm a fan of thrift stores and vendor malls, and I've made good use of Henderson for that reason, but then I run into yet another post that gives the city another big pat on the back in terms of the one-off annual events it hosts.
