Bring on the lights. Any and all of them. Light shows are my jam, and we're headed into a certain season where lights are kind of a big deal.

These days, however, it starts with Halloween. I'm not exactly sure when decorating for Spooky Season began a serious rivalry with decorating for the holiday season, but I'm not mad at it. Not even close. It was an idea whose time had come.

With that, though, we segue into the holiday season, and we'll skip to Christmas. (Thanksgiving, as we know, is more about the food than the string of lights on the gutter.) In fact, why don't we head to central Indiana where they are preparing for yet another spectacular season of Winterlights at Newfields.

Newfields is a 152-acre campus that's home to multiple attractions including the Beer Garden, the Gardens at Newfields, and the fall extravaganza known as Harvest Nights.

It is also where you will find the Indianapolis Museum of Art which brings visitors from far and wide throughout the year but especially at Christmastime. That's when Newfields lights up, quite literally, with Winterlights, a dazzling holiday display featuring more than three million lights. The magnificent attraction is also accompanied by the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra and their special take on The Nutcracker, as well as many of your favorite Christmas carols. Take a peek at last year's display:

Winterlights opens November 23rd and, with a couple of exceptions, will be open everyday throughout the holiday season.
