Not every Hollywood star lives in California full-time. Those who are natives of our most populous state might, but many of them have homes elsewhere while maintaining a California residence for business purposes.

Finding which actors and actresses have private homes in any given state isn't necessarily the most fruitful undertaking, but I located a few. What I did learn was that, for this story, Tennessee far outnumbers Kentucky and Indiana. So we'll start at the bottom first.

Hollywood Stars Who Live in Kentucky

I could only find two. One of them has seen his name in news stories, of late, because he was Loni Anderson's co-star on WKRP in Cincinnati, one of the greatest sitcoms of all time. Anderson passed away earlier this week at the age of 79, so there was a lot of coverage of her time on the classic series. Her co-star and the show's male lead, Andy Travis, was played by Gary Sandy. The TV, movie, and theater actor owns a home in northern Kentucky, not far from...you guessed it, Cincinnati.

Take a drive down Interstate 75 from Cincinnati, and you'll eventually find an exit that leads to Georgetown, Kentucky, where actor Steve Zahn lives with his wife on a horse farm. The Zahns have been Kentuckians for two decades. Earlier this year, he shot a tourism ad for VisitLEX.

In 2022, it was a promotional video for the University of Kentucky's football team. https://x.com/UKFootball/status/1564059300762370049   Steve Zahn received his first Emmy nomination in 2022 for HBO's The White Lotus.

Hollywood Stars With Homes in Indiana

If you saw the 2024 critically acclaimed comedy-drama, A Real Pain, then you had to have noticed actor, director, and screenwriter Jesse Eisenberg's Indiana University ballcap. He wore it throughout the film.

If you think it has everything to do with the fact that he and his wife, actress Anna Strout, live in Bloomington, Indiana, where IU is located, then you are correct. The couple moved there to help Strout's mother (who passed away in 2017) as volunteers at the shelter she ran. Eisenberg has explained that, due to the pandemic, he and his wife stayed in Bloomington and have maintained a home there ever since. He even went one-on-one with a member of the IU women's basketball team.

Today, they split their time between Bloomington and New York. Strout is originally from Indiana.

From Bloomington, hop on State Road 46, then pick up U.S. 50 in Columbus and make a beeline for Madison, Indiana. The river town of some 12,000 residents now counts actor John Schneider as one of their own. The former Dukes of Hazzard and Smallville star and his wife, Dee Dee Sorvino, have been Madison citizens since 2020.

I don't know what luck you'll have "bumping into" any of these people should you find yourself in the towns they now call home. (I wouldn't look too hard for Jesse Eisenberg at the moment.) But who knows? None of them seems like a recluse.

Good luck with your "brush with greatness."
