Kentucky is a special place for many reasons, but one that ranks at the top is how we come together for people in need. There is no better example of that than Kimberly Roberson, her amazing crew, and the special folks who call Kim's Diner on 18th Street a second home.

Kim is the real deal, y'all. Hearts just don't get any bigger than hers. You can feel it when you walk into her restaurant and especially when you eat her food. She's told me before that what she loves most are the people who support her day in and day out. Owensboro's own version of the TV show 'Cheers', which was special for Kim and her dad.

Kim's Diner has become a community of loyal and generous customers who honestly are more like friends and family. Kim celebrates other small businesses in the area and they celebrate her right back. She welcomes and loves on every person who comes to her diner and they love her right back.

It was amazing to feel that love from the Kim's Diner fam during the holiday season. They came together to collect bikes and toys for WBKR's Christmas Wish. I know it wasn't the first time they've done something like this, but I saw how passionate Kim is about serving others.  For lack of a better word, it's contagious. So is her joyful spirit.

Every year, our goal with the WBKR St. Jude Radiothon is to raise as much money as we can so that one day, no child dies from cancer. Kim excitedly agreed to help us make it happen because she knows that St. Jude Children's Research Hospital is an incredible place where families find hope.

The children treated there receive state-of-the-art care for their bodies, minds, and spirits. Their parents don't have to pay a single penny and can live on campus with them while they go through their treatment plan. Then, the research conducted at St. Jude is shared with hospitals all over the world. Chances are, you know someone who has survived cancer because of St. Jude.

A HUGE thanks to Kim and all of her friends. We'll be adding $2,202 to our St. Jude Radiothon Audubon Federal Credit Union Tote Board! They are a true testament to the power of community. She also blew her goal of 30 Partners-in-Hope out of the water for the hour she was with us. AND provided a delicious lunch for our volunteers.

You can join Kim in becoming a Partner in Hope for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Just call 1-800-201-8883 or text "HOPE" to 626262 TODAY!
