Hunt For Treasures at Maple Mount Memories Sale in Daviess County [PHOTOS]
The Ursuline Sisters of Mount St. Joseph have been in West Daviess County for 150 years. This year, they have been celebrating this amazing milestone by sharing stories through plays, pictures, videos, and special events.
I was so thankful to have been a small part of the festivities as I portrayed one of the original founding sisters. If you have ever spent time at the Mount, you know what an incredible place it is. Almost as amazing as the sisters themselves who devote their lives to serving God and the community. Here is a video of the performance written and directed by my friend Dan Heckel, director of Mission Advancement and Communications for the Ursuline Sisters.

As you can imagine, 150 years in one place means accumulating LOTS of treasures. Until the former Retreat Center was razed, these items lived in the Mount Museum. Many of them aren't necessarily historical when it comes to the Sisters' journey, but they do have some pretty interesting stories associated with them. As only the best treasures do. They'll also be priced way below their value.
Some of the items for sale include vintage typewriters and cameras, music boxes, clowns, dolls, beaded handbags, bells, dishware, statuary, figurines, clocks, crosses, glassware, pictures and frames, and many more unique collectibles. There will also be furniture, lamps, filing cabinets, rocking chairs, TVs, and unique furnishings available.
I'm not so sure about the clowns, but here are some pictures for a sneak peek of the sale. On Saturday, Nov. 2, 2024, from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., in Maple Hall (the gym) at 8001 Cummings Road, Maple Mount, it should be a really fun day! Cash, credit cards, and checks will be accepted.

These typewriters are from the 1890s. Somebody let Tom Hanks know they will be up for grabs. Did you know he's a typewriter collector?
Some of these farm tools were handmade by the farm workers.
This corn-shelled box was used for popcorn, to strip the kernels for popping.
This collection of cameras was used by the staff of The Mount, the Academy newspaper.
Vintage dolls of all kinds.
Gorgeous vintage beaded clutch purses.
A vintage German cuckoo clock. I have always wanted one of these!
Other lovely clocks and a vintage record player.
You can see tons of framed paintings and prints in the background too. Here's the bell collection priced to sell!
Such a pretty piano bench.
This is just a small selection of what you'll find at the Memory Sale. If you want to see more pictures or have questions, you can visit the Mount website here.
