I enjoy theme parks as much as anyone, but on my own terms. By that I mean, if you are visiting one with me (it's always more fun to go in a group), don't worry about the fact that I'm not a roller coaster guy. Go. Enjoy your adventure. I promise you I will find something fun to do.

That could mean any number of things, like browsing in the gift shops, getting a quick snack, or enjoying a ride that maybe no one else would. I have discovered that bumper cars fall into the latter category from time to time. And I'll admit that I don't always gravitate to this particular attraction, but I do enjoy it if there is time to kill. However, if you put those cars on the water and call them bumper boats, that ride will be a destination, not a time killer.

Ice Bumper Cars

But in South Bend, Indiana, Ironworks Ice Rink has enhanced the bumper car experience by putting them on ice. Ice bumper cars, people. Has this always been there? If so, how has it escaped my notice? I currently have emoji hearts in my eyes.

And, of course, you can skate.

Hey look, I'm not saying you should center a relatively lengthy drive around ice bumper cars...well...actually, maybe I am. There's plenty to do in South Bend. Maybe you're a Notre Dame fan. Who knows? You could plan the trip and then find other cool things to do to complement the experience. I've done that many times, and ice bumper cars weren't even a part of the equation.

I’d never given the Fighting Irish much thought before, but then again, I’d never heard of ice bumper cars either.
