I have a bone to pick with...well...I'm not sure, maybe. Here's the situation: Whenever I want to see what's on a restaurant's menu, I do like you do. I hit the eatery's website. So simple. However, in the new world of Door Dash, Uber Eats, and Grub Hub, it sometimes is not that easy.

Just show me the menu. I don't need to walk through a thousand online order steps before I see what you have. Better yet, just put images of all your stuff on Facebook. Done. Or this...

Illinois Foodies

I'm not suggesting the Land of Lincoln is the only state with this helpful social media service, but it's the most recent one I saw, and it is very impressive. And yet, so simple because all the proprietors of Illinois Foodies do is curate galleries, give us the location, and invite us to dig in.

Stan's Donuts

For example, who wants a wide selection of both sweet AND savory pastries with their coffee in Chicago? Go to Stan's Donuts:

I'll take five of everything and a barrel of coffee.

Two Farmers

Who wants an extreme burger and a whack coffee beverage? You go to Two Farmers in Mount Carmel IL. (Oh hey, that isn't far from me. Note to self...)

You get the idea, but I'm gonna keep going.

Twisted Pin

Who wants unique bar food and craft cocktails to go along with a bunch of arcade games and 23 lanes of bowling? Then haul your behind to Twisted Pin in Plainfield IL. Who cares if you suck at bowling when all that amazing food is available?

Okay, okay...one more.

Underground Public House

Who's looking for unique cocktails, craft meats, and wildly original dishes combined with a cool college town vibe? Then it's the Underground Public House in Carbondale IL for you.

I could absolutely continue, but I've gotten you started and you can take it from here. Yes, many of these fascinating eateries are in Chicago; the Windy City and vicinity accounts for more than 70% of Illinois's population.

It's still a page worth saving.
