Illinois HS Football Team Sets Six Records in Title Game Triumph

As if this team wasn't good enough, they used the IHSA title game as the scene to solidify their name in the record books.

For the 20 seniors on this team, I've been watching this bunch play organized football since they were in grade school. I knew they were a special group back then but I didn't realize how much.

When the Tigers took the field for the 3A title on Friday in Bloomington-Normal at Illinois State University's Hancock Stadium, they showed anyone paying attention just how talented they are.

By the final whistle, the Tigers dismantled yet another team and set a bunch of records:

Most points in a 3A championship game (69)
Largest point differential in a state championship game (62)
Largest point differential in a season (823-94)
Most points scored in a season (823)
Most total touchdowns scored in a season (123)
Most rushing touchdowns in a season (109)

This was the 4th 3A title game appearance for Byron High School in the last five years. The team won the state championship in 2021 as well.
