Iconic West Coast Fast Food Chain Is Uprooting and Will Move Headquarters to Tennessee
In 2024, Business Insider published a story about why the iconic West Coast fast food chain In-N-Out Burger will likely never head east. Here's the link, but it now has a paywall. No matter, since that line of thinking by the company has drastically changed.
In-N-Out Headquarters in Tennessee
Actually, let's narrow the focus. In-N-Out CEO Lynsi Snyder is a true California girl, born and bred. She grew up surrounded by entrepreneurs as her grandparents were the founders of the hugely popular fast food chain. Although she loves her home state, Snyder admits to the difficulties of raising her four kids in the Golden State. So, Tennessee, here they come. Specifically, In-N-Out will be setting up shop in the Nashville suburb of Franklin.
Admitting that doing business in California isn't easy either, Snyder shared the tale of an Oakland location that had to shutter after 18 years due to crime. Snyder told of gunshots going through the store. There was also a stabbing.
California isn't shedding its In-N-Out Burger stores; there would likely be an uprising. But relocating to Tennessee brings a level of comfort she and her family apparently had stopped experiencing on the Left Coast.
Will In-N-Out Begin Opening in the East?
The move by Lynsi Snyder, however, does not mean there will be an immediate proliferation of restaurants popping up east of the Mississippi River. In fact, she also told Fox Business that she has repeatedly turned Florida down about expansion on the East Coast. I guess seeking more comfortable surroundings doesn't mean everything we think it might mean, but hope springs eternal.
