Indiana Ice Trail Offers One of the Most Unique Skating Experiences
If you enjoy ice skating but get bored with a traditional skating rink, then you absolutely must plan a trip to the most unique and exciting skating experiences in the Hoosier state.
I'm sure we all picture the same thing when we think of an ice skating rink - a square, round, or oval chunk of ice full of people doing laps. Am I right? What Howard Park has to offer is anything but that.
Way up north, in South Bend, Indiana, you will find the 16,000-square-foot ice trail and pond at Howard Park. The aforementioned pond is there for skaters who are content with a nice, flat surface. Then there's the ice trail, which in my opinion is the star attraction at Howard Park...
The ice trail features rolling hills and soft curves that provide skaters with a diverse terrain when making their way around the loop.
As you make your way around the ice trail, you can't help but notice the massive state-of-the-art playground located within the trail. The 13,000-square-foot area features traditional and innovative equipment along with different terrain levels designed specifically for youngsters from 2-12 years of age.
The ice trail and pond are open seven days a week during the winter weather season (now through March 2024). Your admission to the park ($7 for children and $10 for adults) gets you a 90-minute skating session, including the rental of your skates.
