The Fast & The Franks: Indianapolis 500 to Host First Ever Wienermobile Races
I have never been more excited for a race in my life. Indianapolis Motor Speedway has seen lots of action over the years, but they have never hosted giant speeding wieners before. Until now.
Giant Speeding Weiners
I'll take "Dreams Come True" for $1,000, Alex. As a lifelong fan of the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile, I am pretty pumped that a fleet of hot dog-shaped vehicles will get the spotlight at the 109th Indianapolis 500 Carb Day this Friday, May 23rd.
How Fast Can the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile Go?
Fun fact: while this is the first time all six Wienermobiles will be in the same place and the first time they will have ever raced, it is not the first time a Wienermobile has graced the track. According to Mental Floss, "Race car driver Al Unser Jr. took to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in 1988 and drove it for laps. The dog reached an impressive 110 miles per hour."

In The Wiener's Circle
According to AP News, "Each Wienermobile will represent a regional favorite — the New York Dog for the East, Slaw Dog for the Southeast, Chilli Dog for the South, Chi Dog for the Midwest, Seattle Dog for the Northwest and Sonoran Dog for the Southwest."
How Can I Watch the Wienie 500?
General Admission tickets for Carb Day 2025 start at $45 and are for sale on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway website. Sounds like a great little trip to kick off Memorial Day Weekend! Or you can watch the race on the Fox Sports App.
