Two Kentucky Cities Among the Most Boring in the U.S.
A new study has found the most boring cities in the United States, and two Kentucky hotspots are among the top.
When it comes to Kentucky, there really is a lot to see and do throughout the state. Kentucky is full of fun attractions. Whether it be museums, theme parks, sports venues, historical locations, or being out on a beautiful lake, the Bluegrass State has a lot to offer residents and guests alike. There are always things that pop up in the state throughout the year that can be fun, too. We all have our favorite attractions to visit in the state.
That being said, you'll still have many Kentuckians say things like "There's nothing to do here," and that Kentucky can be boring. While I disagree with that, the term "boring" can mean something different to every traveler. What is exciting to one person might be a complete bore to someone else. There's a reason why there are so many possibilities when it comes to tourist attractions. Even saying that, apparently, Kentucky is home to two of the most boring cities in America.
The Most Boring Cities in America
Recently, FinanceBuzz has been making the news for ranking the 15 most boring cities in the country. The scoring criteria included factors such as population makeup, culinary scene, access to outdoor adventures, nightlife, and recreational activities. The “Top 10 Most Boring Cities” include...
- Jacksonville, Florida
- Wichita, Kansas
- Corpus Christi Texas
- Sioux Falls, South Dakota
- Memphis, Tennessee
- San Antonio, Texas
- Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
- Columbus, Ohio
- Tallahassee, Florida
- Phoenix, Arizona
However, right outside that top ten, you will find two Kentucky cities that might surprise you because of all cities in Kentucky, they might have the most to see and do in the area.

Two Kentucky Cities Among the Most Boring in the Country
According to the list from FinanceBuzz, Lexington is the 13th most boring city in America. I mean, I feel like between Kentucky Wildcat sporting events, concerts and other events at Rupp, thoroughbred racetracks, and other events that pop up throughout the year, there really is a lot to do there. FinanceBuzz seems to disagree. Here's what they said about Lexington:
There's some southern charm in Lexington, but little else is going on. With low scores in nightlife and a lack of serious attractions, you'll have to make your own fun most of the time.
Falling at number 12 on the list from FinanceBuzz is none other than Louisville. Really? Louisville made this list? The home of the University of Louisville, Kentucky Slugger Museum, Kentucky Kingdom, and more. There are always a lot of major concerts and events that roll through the area. I was really surprised by Louisville making the list. In any event, here's what FinanceBuzz said:
Besides the Kentucky Derby, there's a significant lack of cultural events in Louisville. Without a diverse music/art scene and loads of chain restaurants, there's something sorely lacking here in what could be a very charming city.
Again, I was very surprised to see these cities on a list like this. What about you?
