5 Things I Absolutely Love About Fall in Indiana
There's something about fall in Indiana that just makes me happy.
Maybe it's the cooler weather. Maybe it's the changing leaves. Or maybe it's finally being able to go outside without feeling like I'm walking directly into someone's armpit.
Whatever it is, fall has a special kind of magic here in the Hoosier State, and there are a few things about it that I absolutely love.

1. Campfire Weather Is Finally Back
Give me a chilly evening, a comfortable chair, and a crackling campfire, and I'm a happy girl.
I love camping, but there's something especially wonderful about sitting around a fire when the temperature drops just enough to make you appreciate the warmth.
Throw in some good company and a sky full of stars, and I'm not sure life gets much better.

2. Indiana's Trees Really Know How to Put on a Show
For a few glorious weeks every year, Indiana decides to show off.
The greens give way to brilliant shades of orange, yellow, and red, and even an ordinary drive can feel like a little adventure.
You don't have to road trip across the country to find beautiful fall scenery. Sometimes you just have to take the scenic route home.

3. It's Finally Time for Sweaters, Boots, and Layers
I'm a big believer in wearing whatever makes you happy, regardless of the season or what anyone else thinks.
But I will admit that fall makes getting dressed a whole lot more fun.
Boots, oversized sweaters, cozy cardigans, and all the layers I couldn't tolerate during an Indiana summer? Yes, please.
And if I can wear my favorite boots without sweating to death, that's a win.

4. All the Weird, Wonderful Fall Festivities
Pumpkin patches, haunted houses, fall festivals, Halloween decorations, and all the other wonderfully weird things that pop up this time of year.
I love that fall gives us an excuse to get out of the house and do something a little different.
Whether it's wandering through a local festival or checking out a spooky attraction, there's always another little adventure waiting.

5. The World Feels Like It Slows Down Just a Little
Maybe this is my favorite part.
There's something about shorter days, cooler evenings, and settling in at home that makes ordinary moments feel a little more special.
A warm drink. A favorite blanket. A good book. An evening with absolutely nowhere you need to be.
I'm learning to appreciate those little things more and more.
And fall seems to make that a little easier.
What's Your Favorite Thing About Fall in Indiana?
For me, it's not necessarily one big event or destination. It's all those little moments that make the season feel special.
And if there's one thing I've learned, it's that sometimes the best adventures are the ordinary ones happening right in front of us.
