Road Work on State Road 57 in Evansville Will Continue Into October

Drivers who regularly travel State Road 57 on Evansville's north side should prepare for slower commutes beginning next week.

The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) has announced a road maintenance project that will bring alternating lane closures to a stretch of State Road 57 for the next couple of months.

Where the Lane Closures Will Be

Beginning on or around July 30, crews will begin alternating lane closures on State Road 57 between Old State Road 57 and Bussing Drive in Vanderburgh County.

The restrictions are needed so crews can complete hot mix asphalt paving as part of scheduled roadway maintenance.

What Drivers Can Expect

While work is underway:

• One lane of traffic will remain open at all times.
• Traffic will be directed by a flagger through the work zone.
• Motorists should expect periodic delays.

The project is expected to continue through early October, weather permitting, according to information shared by the Evansville Vanderburgh County Emergency Management Agency.

Because traffic will be reduced to a single lane at times, drivers may want to allow a few extra minutes if traveling through the area during peak hours.

INDOT reminds motorists to slow down, stay alert, and avoid distractions while traveling through construction zones.

Road workers and flaggers will be working close to moving traffic throughout the project, making extra caution especially important.
