Johnny Cash Has A Spider Species Named After Him
It's a strange but true story from the world of science. Country legend Johnny Cash now has a new species of tarantula named after him. No, it's not named Sue which I think is a missed opportunity.
Aphonopelma johnnycashi is a black arachnid which makes its home in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains and the areas surrounding Folsom Prison. I'm not making this up.
Cash staged a famous concert for the inmates of Folsom State Prison on January 13, 1968, and the performance eventually became a popular live album.
Check out the Johnny Cash spider namesake HERE. He or she is quite black and velvety. I concur.
