Judge Judy Retiring After 30 Years! Here’s Who She’s Passing the Gavel on to
Not gonna lie, the news has me a little verklempt. Judge Judy is finally hanging up the lace collar and retiring from on-screen work behind the bench. She would tell me to get a grip and snap out of it, I'm sure, but that is why I love her so much!
Quick-witted and a little mean, like all the best ladies are, in a world of fake and phony, she always keeps it real. Which makes for the BEST television moments. Whether she is telling someone to be quiet or fussing at a man for running out on his woman, we are right there on our couches, having her back. "You get 'em, Auntie Judy!"
My 12-year-old LOVES her just as much as I do. Nobody can make him cackle quite like she can. When we are at my mom's house, we'll turn on Judy and see what she's up to. In my imagination, Judge Judy is cousins with one of the Golden Girls. Probably Sophia. I bet she'd remember what happened in Sicily way back when, but she'd never share any incriminating details!
Still as spunky and sassy as ever, I can't believe she is 83 years old. She's decided it is finally time to retire (kinda) and hand over the gavel to the seemingly perfect person to take over her reign. Her son! Adam Levy is the star of the new syndicated court show, Adam's Law, that premiered on September 14th. Judge Judy will stay on as a producer behind-the-scenes.

People magazine shared that once her Prime Video series Judy Justice is complete, that will be the last time she'll be in front of the camera. She said she doesn't want to do hair and makeup anymore, but still wants to create new things. Like an animated series called Judyverse.
Of course, she will continue to help her son and chime in with her opinion on cases that come through the court. Adam shared her advice, which sounds spot on. She said, "Be yourself and don’t screw this up."
