Muhlenberg County, KY Native Signs Deal with Curb Records in Nashville
Exciting news for Muhlenberg County, Kentucky native Kelsey Hart. There is no doubt that he is proof that hard work, patience and perseverance pay off. Today, in Nashville, Kelsey signed a deal with Curb Records.
I first met Kelsey about ten years ago when he was the front man for the band Boys of Broad. That band of friends, in successive years, made the final of the Battle for the Big O, a talent contest designed to cast the opening act of the annual Big O Music Festival.
Here's video from the first time we saw the band. They showed up at an open audition at Trunnell's Farm Market.
There was no doubt, from the first time we saw Kelsey, that he belonged on stage with a mic in his hand.
Over the last few years, Kelsey has been pursuing a career in country music- both singing and songwriting. In 2021, I profiled Kelsey when he released his song "Crazy 'Bout You".
Upon its release, that song, propelled by popularity on TikTok, briefly climbed its way into the Top 10 on the iTunes Country Chart.
Kelsey's first successes in Nashville were definitely songwriting. In 2020, he signed a publishing deal with Curb Records and had songs recorded by Jake Owen and Trace Adkins. Another song he co-wrote, "Hell Outta Me", was picked up by Dylan Scott and became a staple of the set list for the country star's live shows.
Now, Kelsey has something else in common in with Dylan. As of today, the two offcially share the same label as artists.
Kelsey shared the big news and some moments of reflection on social media.
Among Kelsey's Curb Records label mates are some popular names in country music: Dylan Scott (as mentioned above), Lee Brice, Rodney Atkins and more. Curb Records, which was founded in 1964, has a proven track record of hits. The label has achieved 435 number one record, over 1500 Top Ten records and has charted over 4500 records from artists like Tim McGraw, Hank Williams Jr., LeAnn Rimes, The Judds, Jo Dee Messina and more.
In my 2021 article, I concluded my story about Kelsey with this- So, what's next for Kelsey? I think we all need to stay tuned.
Well, I think we just found out. And, in the wake of today's exciting and promising announcement, I'll reiterate what I said a year-and-a-half ago. I think we all need to stay tuned.
And, the good news? We won't have to wait long. On Friday, January 27th, Kelsey is set to release the "beer-buzzed breakup" song "6-Pack Gone."
